This Taiwan's first-ranked technical university, established in 1974, aims to meet the need created by nation's rapid economic and industrial development for highly trained engineers and managers. NTUST is one of top universities in world performance ranking of scientific papers in the engineering field. Also, NTUST is one of 11 leading universities listed in the 5-year NT $50 billion program for achieving excellence in education funded by Education Ministry in Taiwan. The university has devoted to achieving excellence in education, research, and service to the society in domestic and abroad. Current student enrollment includes 5447 undergraduate with 4508 in graduate programs. There are 561 full-time faculty members in the whole university.
